SALA 2024 - A surprise event with two new artists

There will be a change up in dates this year.

my studio will only be open 3 days

Sunday 11th, 18th and Sunday 25

10.00am - 4.00pm each day.

With, from left, textural sustainable artist Swapna Namboodiri, Catherine Fitz-Gerald and bas-relief artist Sandhya Mulchandani.

Fabric, clay, plastics, paint, photography and film; exploring memory and making through three artists’ touch.

The materials we make with matter. Whether we illuminate the memory of making through photography and film; or focus attention on the fragility and danger to our ocean reefs through the use of upcycled plastics; or take the earth itself to fashion bas-relief images reflecting culture and history; the fabrics we create with are a vital part of our voices as artists.

Three artists demonstrate the materials of their art practices throughout the day 10-4, and give an artist talk at 1pm.

Catherine Fitz-Gerald - August 11th - ‘If fabrics could speak…’ Demonstrating painting fabrics in oils

Audio described paintings, photographs and digital stories.

I am thrilled that the If Fabrics Could Speak film is a finalist for the Unitcare Services Digital Media Award.

Come and see the special large screen viewing at 1.30 following my 1pm artist talk. The captioned film can be viewed on the small screen in my studio throughout SALA, or online at home.

Congratulations to all SALA artists and finalists.
