Before the wine series.

I based this series on the varietal characteristics that South Australian vintners described to me.

Expressing each grape varietal’s aroma, flavour, texture and density as complex layers of rich abstract colour.

Merlot grape characteristics

Plum, strawberry, black cherry, violet

Spices, cinnamon, chocolate, mint

Soft, low acidity, lush

 Oil on aluminium 60 x 60cm

The hidden fastenings will make the painting appear to float on the wall.
